Golden Basket ("the app") is an offline-first air-fryer companion for India. It works without an email address, phone number, or password. This policy explains exactly what data the app collects, where it goes, and how to delete it.
Golden Basket has an optional, lightweight profile. When you pick a chef name (a username you invent, no email, no phone number, no password), we store on our server: that name, the air-fryer model you say you own (optional), and events for recipes you cooked or shared (recipe id + time). This exists so your name is unique and your kitchen profile survives reinstalls. Your Kitchen Key, a short recovery code shown when you claim your name, is the only recovery secret; keep it safe. We do not collect your real name, email address, phone number, contacts, or location, and we never sell data. Ad services are described under Advertising below.
The app collects usage analytics and uploads them to our own server. This is first-party and self-hosted: no third party receives it, and no advertising or analytics SDK is involved. It covers app-interaction events (for example, which screens and features you use and which recipes you open or cook) plus the number and duration of your app sessions. Each upload is keyed by an install identifier (Android's ANDROID_ID, or a random app-generated id where that is not usable), together with your chef name when you are signed in, and the app version. Analytics are on by default and the app currently has no in-app switch to turn them off. The data is sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) and contains no ad identifiers. Interaction events are kept on the server for about 90 days; session records (start time and duration) are kept for up to about 13 months for aggregate usage statistics.
If you post a recipe or product review (a rating and text), it is stored on our server and shown publicly next to your chef name. If you use the suggestion box to request a recipe or share one of your own, the details you enter (the recipe name, an optional link, your recipe text, and any notes) are stored on our server and also emailed to the developer for review. Please do not include personal information in these fields.
To keep your chef name yours across reinstalls, the app sends the same install identifier described above when you claim or sign in with a name. It links your account to your device, is never shown publicly, never used for ads, and never shared.
Settings, chosen language, preferences, and journal notes stay on your device. If you add a photo to a share card, it is chosen with Android's photo picker and processed entirely on-device; we never upload your photos or media. The app works fully offline; profile features sync when a connection returns.
You can delete your account and its data in three ways: in the app (open Account, then "Delete my account"), on the web at goldenbasket.duckdns.org/account/delete (verified with your Kitchen Key), or by emailing us your chef name from any address. Deletion removes the account, its events and its reviews, and detaches your chef name from any analytics records.
The app requests no microphone, camera, location, contacts, or storage permission. Voice read-aloud in Cook Mode uses Android's on-device text-to-speech, which needs no permission and sends nothing anywhere.
Some product links open your browser at a retailer (e.g. Amazon) using an affiliate tag. If you buy something, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Our recommendations are commission-blind. Payout never affects ranking. Once you leave to the retailer's site, that retailer's own privacy policy applies.
Golden Basket shows banner ads from Google AdMob on the browse screens (the recipe list, a recipe page, and the buying guide). To serve ads, AdMob may use an advertising identifier and limited device and app information, processed by Google as a separate service under its own privacy policy. Where consent is required we ask through Google's consent tool, and we fall back to non-personalized ads otherwise. Ads never appear in Cook Mode. You can remove ads permanently with a one-time in-app purchase, or get a temporary ad-free period by watching an optional rewarded video. We use no other advertising networks.
The app is intended for adults (shopping and cooking) and is not directed at children.
